Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sydney, the added 1.29%.

The best performers of the session on the were Zip Co Ltd (ASX:), which rose 14.29% or 0.04 points to trade at 0.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Washington H Soul Pattinson&Co Ltd (ASX:) added 6.64% or 2.23 points to end at 35.82 and Ramelius Resources Ltd (ASX:) was up 6.15% or 0.08 points to 1.38 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Star Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:), which fell 2.84% or 0.03 points to trade at 0.85 at the close. Abacus Property Group (ASX:) declined 2.75% or 0.03 points to end at 1.06 and Cromwell Property Group (ASX:) was down 2.27% or 0.01 points to 0.43.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sydney Stock Exchange by 810 to 475 and 368 ended unchanged.

Shares in Star Entertainment Group Ltd (ASX:) fell to all time lows; losing 2.84% or 0.03 to 0.85. Shares in Washington H Soul Pattinson&Co Ltd (ASX:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 6.64% or 2.23 to 35.82. Shares in Abacus Property Group (ASX:) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.75% or 0.03 to 1.06.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 8.63% to 12.13.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 5.35 to $1,938.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.57% or 0.51 to hit $90.67 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.50% or 0.47 to trade at $94.17 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.32% to 0.65, while AUD/JPY rose 0.52% to 95.47.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 104.93.
